If you are a beginner you really don't need anything except a pair of rugby boots. To start with contact your local club or school to see what kit they can lend you and what they would like you to buy.

If you are going to be playing contact rugbyl (from about age 9) you must wear a gum shield. You might also want some shoulder pads, gloves and thermals. See our Rugby Accessories sub sections in the Rugby section for gum shields. Other essentials are available through the rugby section.
